Osman Hamdi Bey Memorial House Museum & His Masperpices of Paintings, Eskihisar, Gebze-Izmit,Turkey
Osman Hamdi Bey Memorial House Museum, which takes places on the lips of Bay of Marmara at Eskihisar, Gebze-Izmit, Turkey. Eskihisar Castle [Nikedtiaton Castle] is so well known by many Western Travelers of East, Levant, Anatolia, Ottoman Empire or today’s Turkey and for all interested people all over world, and famous due to Hannibal Barca, the braveheart of Carthaga [once in today’s Spain] poisoned himself not to surrender to the Roman Soldiers. Gebze [Λύβισσα: Libyssa: Libya] is an industrial town in Kocaeli Province, Izmit [Νικομήδεια: Nicomedia: City of Nicomed and in full meaning: “The Land of Thinker of Victory”], Turkey.

Osman Hamdi Bey [1842-1910] was a prominent and pioneering Turkish painter. He was also an accomplished archaeologist, and is considered as the pioneer of the profession of museum curatorship in Turkey, and is the founder of Istanbul Archaeology Museum and of the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts [Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi, today a part of the Mimar Sinan University].
His paintings, in which he wisely and skillfully employed Oriental elements, have since been included in many private or public collections in Turkey and abroad. The term the Orient - literally meaning sunrise, east - is traditionally used to refer to Near, Middle, and Far Eastern countries. ... His best know masterpiece is known as “The Tortoise Trainer”. This piece is said made two copies, one with a vase and latter is without it. Another masterpiece of him is known as “White Horse At War”.
